Cook's Illustrated is a non-profit kitchen review magazine, similar to Consumer
Reports. They review products and they rate Soehnle as the best kitchen scale. I
was wondering why this board and Scale Magazine do not mention this brand. Does
anyone know anything about their accuracy?

I am looking for a small (not
pocket size) scale that has an accuracy of a minimum of .5 grams or ideally .1
grams and a capacity of at least 500 grams. I need this type of accuracy for
when I am weighing items like 20 grams of a spice.

I already have a My
Weigh Ultra Ship 55 and I can use this for weighing heavier things. I can place
a 4 lb. mixer bowl on this and set the tare and add 3 lbs. of flour, etc. But
what I am looking for is a small gram accurate scale that I can store safely in
a cabinet for weighing spices, etc.

I worry that the pocket scales are
too small for what I intend to use them for. Most pocket scales are smaller than
the plastic bowls I plan to place on it to hold the items I am measuring. I
really like MyWeigh but most of their scales appear either too small like cell
phones or calculators or look like they would take up too much space because
they are more like postal scales (like the Ultra Ship 55). I need something with
a tare function, something that won't shut off automatically (or at least not
for 2 minutes), has a memory if it does shut off automatically, can switch from
gram to ounce, and has a surface large enough to hold a small bowl, or maybe a 1
or 2 cup plastic measuring cup.
